Building up on the Jasmine Revolution that has been flowering in the Arab world as inspiration, an off-the-street graffiti logo served as adequate medium to show revolution. And in honor of the Arabs in revolt and the Arabic pride they restored in our hearts, the logo was made to read in both english and arabic at the same time.
Next in line were the teasers and posters for the Spring Cap n Gown Photoshoot. For the teasers, we simply placed images of high contrast b/w portraits of students in the cap and gown with the logo cropped or reversed on the wall behind them and then photocopied on colored papers and planted all over the American University of Beirut (AUB).
As for the posters, we wanted to show students with spirit, to show motion or determination within the photograph. Then a slogan to instigate the potential change that we can create.
It goes without saying that the visual communication of the logo was transferred into the poster, so the texture was embedded behind the slogan, which was printed in two versions: english and arabic.
